Our client, based in Wakefield, have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join their Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Director you will be responsible for maintaining finance records, processes and controls, regular reporting of Management Information to the Leadership Team and generally supporting the business in all aspects of finance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of the day to day finance function of the company, including line management responsibilities for the Finance Administrator
  • Ensuring the Finance team processes all finance transactions and performs all day-to-day finance operations efficiently and effectively
  • Preparation of monthly MI and presentation of this to the Board including P&L analysis along with a review of financial KPIs
  • Controlling company costs to ensure spending is in line with budgets
  • Perform regular reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts, including the bank accounts and intercompany balance reconciliations
  • Prepare quarterly VAT Returns and ensure VAT compliance
  • Analysis of the company’s financial performance and making longer term financial and cash flow forecasts
  • Strategic modelling of future financial performance and cash flows with the SMT
  • Preparation of year end Financial Statements
  • Preparation of any financial information required for financial and compliance audits
  • Preparation of payroll records for payroll processing and the payment of payroll, pension and HMRC payroll deduction payments on time
  • Maintain and update financial process and controls documentation
  • Provide constructive ideas for improvement in processes and procedures
  • Working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions
  • Maintain a professional and effective working relationship with key stakeholders

Essential skills:

  • Accounting qualification to AAT level, or at part-qualified CIMA or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience of producing regular financial MI to, at least, P&L and Balance Sheet level
  • A minimum of 12 months experience working within a fast-paced Finance Team with processing of finance transactions in a fast-paced team
  • Xero Accounts or other cloud-based accounting software experience
  • Payroll processing
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Highly numerically-literate with sound technical skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce highly accurate work to strict deadlines
  • The ability to organise and prioritise their own work and deliver against challenging deadlines
  • Equally effective working as an individual as well as being part of a team
  • A great communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships
  • Pro-active with a strong sense of initiative and the confidence to challenge
  • Good communications and presentation skills
  • An ability to explain complex financial information in a clear way
  • Honesty and discretion
